Club By-Laws
1. Always keep God first. God is our PILOT so we will always have prayer before a ride, when we stop for lunch or dinner, and in any situation that may occur where prayer is needed. Exodus 20:3
2. No substance abuse of any kind will be allowed and will result in termination at the descresion of the club officers. Profanity will not be allowed. We realize that everyone that rides with this group will not profess to be a Christian, so we ask that you please refrain from any "habits" that you may have while riding with us. Our main goal is to make an impression on our group and others so people will want to ride with us and respect what and who we stand for. The purpose of the "Co-Pilots Riding Club" is to be open to prospective members that want to ride and enjoy the beautiful land that the Lord has made and have fun while doing it. As Christian motorcycle riders, we want to be a witness to everyone and have a club that shows our lives, our standards, and our love for God.
3. Modest apparel. Our club is Christian in its origin and we ask that you dress appropriately. No apparel with obscene pictures or graphics, nudity, alcohol advertisements or inappropriate pictures or graphics. 1 Thessalonians 5:22
4. Always have a kind word to say. When we enter a business establishment (restaurant, convenience stops, etc.), always be kind and courteous to employees so that we will have a positive impact or impression when and if we return.
5. Let the officers handle any situation. If a situation arises that is questionable, immediately contact one of the officers. That officer will contact the other officers, and if necessary, a meeting will be called to discuss the situation accordingly.
6. Qualifications of being a member. Each prospect must be able to safely operate a motorcycle, know and obey the rules of the road. Prospects must have a love and desire to want to serve Jesus Christ. No individual shall hold more than one office in the group. Rights of membership may not be transferred, assigned to another person or devised. No member shall have any right or interest to any group property. No restriction of race, sex, creed or citizenship shall be a factor. Participation in club activities is looked upon as a requirement to retain membership.
7. Full Members shall have all voting privileges. Any family member, friend of a member or anyone dedicated to the purposes of this group shall be eligible for membership. Businesses may also sponsor our group and donations will be accepted into club account for club activities. A $10.00 monthly membership Fee is required to retain membership. A spouse or significant other, of a member in good standing, may join the club for an annual dues fee of $30.00; this family member will still be required to purchase a patch at normal rates.
8. Prospect members will be sponsored by a Full member. Inexperienced or beginning riders must ride with the group a minimum of 3 rides and attend 3 meetings. Experienced riders must ride with the group a minimum of 2 club rides and attend 2 regular club meetings. This may be altered at the discretion of the officers. Prospect members must show a valid license and insurance, and be voted in at the scheduled meeting.
9. Termination of members. Any member can be terminated by circumstances of conduct that is not in the best interest of the group. No member shall be terminated until they have had an opportunity to be heard at a membership meeting.
10. Meetings. Meetings will be held at a convenient place to all members agreed upon by the group officers. There will be a monthly meeting and special called meetings. It will be the duty of the group Secretary or appointed person by the President, to give oral, phone call, e-mail or mail notice of each meeting stating the purpose of the meeting and the place and time it is to be held at least 10 days prior to the meetings. The President shall preside over the meetings, or if not present, the Vice-President. In the absence of both officers, the members shall appoint a person to preside over the meeting. The meeting shall be called to order, open with prayer, roll call, reading of minutes of previous meeting, reports of the officers, old business (or unfinished), new business, safety report, open forum (questions), and closing with prayer.
11. Officers. Officers must be regular members and in good standing with the group. The elected officers shall consist of: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Road Captain. The President shall be responsible for operations (business and affairs of the group) and shall share signatory power with Vice President and Treasurer for any bank accounts in the Co-Pilots Riding Club's name. The Vice President shall succeed the President's responsibilities in his absence. The Secretary will maintain minutes, give proper notice of meetings, keep the groups records and register the names and addresses of all members. The Treasurer will do general accounting duties and (billing & collecting dues & donations) banking functions. The Treasurer shall provide financial reports quarterly, or as required. Shall have signatory power on the group's bank account, take care of patches (distributing to members and collecting). Sergeant at Arm’s duties are to act as road guard and to insure that members obey the rules of the road and keep safety his top priority as well as provide safety updates at meetings. The office of Road Captain will be responsible for assisting the Secretary and Vice-President with record keeping, web maintenance, etc. The offices and positions will be modified as deemed necessary by the club officers.
12. Nomination and Election. In the event that an officer position becomes available, then a meeting will be held, and the member with the most votes will be elected to serve in that position.
13. Club colors. Patches are to be purchased from the Treasurer ($75.00 subject to change). Members will be allowed to purchase a patch after all prospect requirements have been met and their dues are paid. All club patches will be owned by the club and returned to the club upon termination of membership. The patch may be purchased back by the club at and a fair value will be paid to the departing member upon termination. The value is determined based upon condition as deemed by the club officers. The Club Patch is to be worn on the back of vest.
14. Disclaimer. The officers and members of this group are in no way responsible or liable for property or personal damage during activities or rides. Everyone (members & guests) who participate in club events do so at their own risk.
15. The Co-Pilots Riding Club is a non-profit organization.
16. Rules of the Road. (1) We ask that all riders be ready to go when a ride is planned (filled with gas and have checked all operating parts of motorcycle). (2) Any rider that drops out will be assisted by any member. (3) At no time will any rider be abandoned on the highway. (4) Obey the speed limit. Speed shall not be allowed above the legal or safe limit. (5) Do not crowd into positions. (6) If you have dropped out or stopped, catch up at the end of the line. (7) Always ride in a staggered formation at all times. (8) Maintain at least a 2 second interval to the rider in front of you. (9) Consideration to all traffic signals and hazards will be given. (10) Turn signals will be executed at all times. (11) We ask that all riders do not operate or ride outside of their own level of comfort. Ecclesiastes 12:13
